Children
Children are a heritage from the Lord. (Psalm 217:3)
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
As parents, what do we hope for our children?
Do we hope that they will consider God only in the midst of crisis?
When they are adults, do we hope they might attend worship only if there are no other Sunday activities going on?
Or do we hope that faith in God will be an integral part of who they are and of the choices they make in life?
The truth is, children learn more by watching us than by what we say. The priorities we exemplify, the choices we make, go a long way toward starting children off on the way they should go.
At Genesis, we believe strongly in the above verses, and we have a lot of fun along the way. We have an annual Children's Sunday when kids get to lead parts of the worship service; Vacation Bible (see below) is a summer highlight; at Christmastime, children participate in our annual Live Nativity; and the Simple Gifts children's singing group gives kids a chance to sing in worship. A few other highlights from past Genesis events include...
- bringing a live donkey into worship for Palm Sunday
- creating a living DaVinci's Last Supper
- recreating a snowy Narnia inside our building
- celebrating Jesus' Great Banquet
- making our own Ten Commandments tablets
Our Sunday School (or better yet, Sunday's Cool) is know as GraceLand.
I'm Going to
GraceLand engages multiple learning styles by utilizing drama, music, video, crafts, felt board storytelling, snacks, and other methods for bringing the Bible and faith alive!
Within GraceLand are three groups of students:

ACORNS are preschool and kindergarten.

EXPLORERS are 1st grade through 3rd grade.

TWISTERS are 4th through 6th grade. This group also gets together for special activities and outreach events outside of church!
The name comes from the fun we had playing Twister Dance at a Christmas party, but also because this group is full of swirling energy centered on faith.
